Wish you could have followers like your favorite celebrity?
Imagine logging into Twitter account and glancing at your followers and you see 22,000 and you feel accomplished because you didn’t follow any silly tactics. You simply did, what you do best, shared useful and helpful stuff.
You’re having relevant conversations everyday with a variety of people and gaining more exposure to your personal brand or business than ever before, using Twitter. People are naturally following you because you have become a source for helpful and useful content. WOW, doesn’t that feel good?
Does the following silly tactics sound familiar?
• Follow for a follow
• Websites that ask for your Twitter password
• Robots doing the work for you
• Asking for a follows
If these tactics are what you should NOT do, what should you do?
The following 3 elements are the same three I use in about 92% of my tweets. You can average about 5 to 10 organic followers per day that’s 150 to 300 new followers per month, if you’re consistent. Those numbers are all based on your effort to use the 3 elements. Those numbers can be drastically higher if you choose to do the work.
If, you’re still reading I am pretty sure you’re one of those people who will do what you need to do to succeed.
How using the “Box Office Tweet” (#BoxOfficeTweet) can get you 150 to 300 organic followers per month
The Box Office Tweet (#BoxOfficeTweet) was created after I realized all my followers were not seeing my tweets. If you read a few articles about getting new followers you will notice a lot of the big marketers using this strategy in most of their tweets.
…Hashtags, Links and @Name
So, I copied success and started to add all three elements to my Tweets.
Let’s talk about what each element can do for you….

The 3 elements you need in your tweets to gain more followers and exposure fast
Hashtag
Do you network? If so great, you’re a lot cooler than me. Using Hashtags is like networking you’re usually guaranteed to meet someone new and interesting. I like the way Chris Brogan explains using the Hashtag with different online events, here. (Scroll down to number 3). By including search terms that others find relevant and interesting, hashtags can expand your reach.
@Name
I am pretty sure at this point in the game your familiar with a @Name. If not, it is a way to connect with another Twitter user. Do you use it only for talking or for sharing your brand with other crowds? When you send information created by someone other than you make sure you add their @Name in your tweet so you can reach their followers.
Links
This is where the magic happens. Are you sharing good and relevant stuff? Give people a reason to interact with you and click around on your Tweet (Infographic from Dan Zarrella about gaining more clicks, here). If you’re sharing good stuff, which you should be, people will remember where it came from, YOU!
Your Next Step…
1. Start looking for some cool online events and join the conversation and create your own Hashtag and make it super popular. Here are some cool Hashtags for businesses, click here.
2. After reading articles you like find out who the writers are. Follow them and share their content with their @Name
